Welcome back to Weekly Roundups, y’all :)
Thank you for voting and sharing your thoughts earlier this week; meant more than you know.
And uhh, it’s an auspicious day to relaunch the Weekly Roundups because one of my short stories just got published today in Ephemeras Literary Magazine :)
So… I present to you:
Anyhow, without further ado, here’s this week’s list of pubs accepting subs.
Curated Opportunities
These opportunities focus on creative and magazine writing. I try to include a mix of super high-profile and indie publications that are more beginner-friendly. (Click the names of the publications for detailed submission guidelines.)
Granta: Their prose submissions are closing in two days (June 30), so hurry! Pay: Paid market, amount unknown.
Longreads: They’ve recently renewed their call for submission on Twitter, so here’s a reminder that they accept submissions on a rolling basis. Nonfiction only—personal essays, researched/reported essays, critical essays, and reading lists. Pay: Reading lists are $350, essay rate starts at $500.
Story: They’re open for submissions of flash, short, and long stories (fiction). Pay: $10 per page.
Flash Fiction: Send your flash fiction, duh! (300-1,000 words.) Pay: $40.
Ergot: Send your fiction. They do not have a deadline, but I’ve seen them close subs for periods of time before, and it depends on how long they need to recoup their energy or catch up on reading or whatever. I do love that they let you know their decisions FAST! (30 days!) Pay: $25.
Rumpus: They’re open for essay submissions through August 1. Pay: Smol payment.
Hayden’s Ferry: Send your poetry, prose, translation, or art submission to HFR by July 15. Pay: no.
3:AM: Right now, they’re open for criticism, nonfiction, and poetry submissions only. Pay: no.
Identity Theory: They’re open for nonfiction, poetry, and hybrid submissions. Pay: no.
West Trade Review: They’re open across multiple genres and themed submissions—poetry, fiction, flash fiction, hybrid, nonfiction, etc. Pay: no.

*** Note: I cannot always vet each of these publications, unfortunately. So, please do your due diligence and research. See if their values align with yours, if there are conditions/restrictions to who can or cannot pitch/submit, whether or not they’re a paying market, how much they pay, etc., if these things matter to you.***
That’s all for this week.
Enjoy the weekend. :)
